My silkie has a growth

Was there any drainage when she scratched it? Is there a hole in the skin (which can be common if an abscess breaks open?) If you have some BluKote or Gentian Violet, it can be used to mask the wound so that the others won't peck at her. Betadine or iodine would also work and are disinfecting, but all are staining and take a couple of weeks to wear off. I'm glad that she seems better.

No there was no drainage it just bleeds then scabs over.thanks eggcessive il have a look for some of the things u mentioned but I'm in the uk so they might be branded differently thanks again

Oh those silkies and their strange growths. An avian vet would have most likely taken a biopsy to give you a more accurate prognosis. Silkies are famous for funky feather follicle growths that tend to be benign but can do strange things as the bird gets older. Well, silkies are prone to a lot of things as they get older because the family tree does not fork-if you know what I mean. However, you are on the right course by allowing her to be happy. Spoil her rotten and allow her to be happy!

Thank u very much for ur support but sad news Kandi passed away last night after such a lovely day where she looks so good never mind she's in a better place now :frow
