Breed ideas?

Thread Starter
This is the singleton my bantam just hatched. Bought 7 eggs online, only 1 hatched. Don't know breed, and usually can't sex until they crow or lay!! Tiny chick, light brown egg, 3 toes, no foot feathers. Ideas? Autopsied other 6 eggs (knew 2 had loose air cells). All were yellow inside, no blood, germ, or rings. Does that mean they were infertile, or did something else go wrong?

So you don't know what breed the eggs that you bought were, or you just lost track of which egg was which? If a breed wasn't specified at purchase, it may be a mixed breed. Can't even begin to guess at breed until it's feathered in, sorry.

Hope it thrives   -   and we can see photos later on.   You may want to ask your questions on a incubation/hatching sight  to know what went wrong.

This honestly looks like a blue or black Rosecomb Bantam chicken. I cannot tell the gender, though. You can hire a trained professional to vent sex day old chicks. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2014/06/how-to-sex-chickens-male-or-female-hen.html

This link shows how to tell the sex of a chicken. Hope this was helpful. :)
