Easter Eggers or Ameraucana???

That will make black sexlinks. The males will feather out with the barring pattern. Pullets will likely be solid black, due to the fact that both Giants and barred Rocks have the extended black gene. It will be difficult to tell those pullets apart from a purebred Jersey Giant, though.

Thanks for all the input everyone! Do you have any pictures of the chicks as they grew up? I'm really considering trying this.
 
These were taken at six weeks. I kept 3, 2 pullets and a cockerel. I don't have any recent pictures, they are about 14 weeks old now. The cockerel is almost about the same size as my rooster now, and is just starting to get his golden 'big boy' feathering. One of the pullets is completely black, the other has a few red feathers on her head.

 
So far, they've been fairly fast developing. Sexlinks tend to have what's called hybrid vigor. They feathered in very quickly; I was able to move them outdoors at 3 weeks old. They were big enough to integrate into the adult flock by 6 weeks old. The cockerel was as big as my adult hens by 10 weeks old. The pullets are just starting to pink up in the combs, so I expect them to start laying by mid January or early February. My barred Rocks lay nearly everyday, so I'm expecting these girls will lay just as well or even better. All the chicks got pea combs, so my odds for green eggs are pretty good.
 
That sounds good. I've been spoiled with my ISA Browns who lay an egg just about every day. My barred rocks are right at the point of lay. I will probably give them a little time for the egg size to get bigger. I have not hatched chicks myself before so I'm very excited about this. I wonder what the egg size wil be?
 
Egg size will be just a tad bit smaller than grocery store eggs, overall, once they've fully matured. I have one Barred Rock that lays eggs a bit larger, and I've got a few that lay slightly smaller eggs.

The Easter Egger will (fingers crossed) contribute the blue eggshell gene, giving me green egg layers. My Easter Egger girls lay eggs that are about the same size as the Barred Rock eggs, so I'm not expecting much difference in egg size.
