Hello Quail Friends, I'm thinking of getting quail and I already have ducks. At night, my ducks sleep in a converted metal shed. It's 120 square feet and about 6 feet tall. If I built quail cages off the ground so that they were about three-four feet above the ducks, would this be a safe way to keep them together? I've read that ducks can get quail sick but didn't know if that risk would be eliminated if the quail weren't on the ground with them. I'd love any feed back. They shed has airflow/ natural light so they wouldn't be in the dark all day.

Sounds ok to me, think the lines of "Not being together" means like walking on the same ground. just because ducks tend to make things wet all the time, at least mine do.... quail like dry areas.

Ok thanks! I figure I'll put a poop catch under them but no guarantees the ducks won't come into contact with them. I do my best to have healthy birds. I don't put water in there at night for the ducks but the rain gets it pretty wet. Good to know they should be off wet ground.
