Renovating the garage for the geese, need ideas to keep them off the wall

In the next month or so we are renovating the entire house, and since our garage won't fit our giant SUV and truck, we are going to turn into a night time house for the geese.

The plan is to turn the floor into a fake grass situation where you can hose off the poop into the yard, or scoop it out into a compost pile or something. We do not want the geese on the walls though because of the poop and food.

I need an idea to keep them away from the walls but still able to sit in corners and against something since they like to sit in corners. Let me know if you have pictures! Also nesting boxes, what nesting boxes does everyone use for their geese? Or you just let them nest wherever they want?

Pictures of inside your goose houses would be nice!

You could attach vinyl flooring to your walls might work, in my small chicken coop I use for brooding some of mine when I let them brood. I have vinyl flooring attached almost all the way up the walls. I just let mine have deep bedding and they lay where they want inside on the bedding.I also have vinyl flooring in all my houses it is easy to keep clean and keeps the wood from staying wet from moist bedding.

So do you hose it off any time? Or clean it off somehow when it does get dirty?

The walls in my small coop I just use a spray bottle with water and oxine in it and if poop gets on it I spray and wipe with paper towels, the floor I spot clean because most of it is covered with a think layer of shavings so not much is showing of the vinyl. we have a discount store here that sells rolls of vinyl for around 20dollars so it's a cheap way to put down flooring. on cement you'd have to figure out how to hold it down around the edges with wood strip we actually did that in 1 of my houses which was a storage shed before a chicken coop. Since it was all wood on the inside I just stapled the vinyl around the floor up against the walls. I only have the one small coop where I put the vinyl up on the walls and that was because at one time I had ducks living in there and we all know how poop gets shot out and on stuff. In my one goose house it's all wood and has been built since 2012 this spring all bedding comes out and sits to dry good, then I am going to paint half way up the walls with a good high gloss paint to protect the walls where they get damp from the shavings. I use deep in their too usually at it's highest it's around 6" but even with me daily scooping out the wet spots the bedding still gets damp and lay s against the wood. So painting could be another option just use a high gloss so it clean up easily. doesn't have to be expensive paint either just something to protect. Actually if you are working with cement walls and floor painting maybe your best option and periodically just spraying it all down if you can do that with a hose. They have paint for concrete.

Our garage is at a slight incline (not noticeable) but water runs straight out to the driveway and down into the grass, spraying it down would be easy! I think for the vinyl I could put nails in the walls and hang it tightly on those nails, or tape it up with duct tape. I'm so excited to have such a big place for them to stay, they already have one side of the garage for night time but they're locked in a pen type thing, now they'll have both sides and no pen!! My only issue is that one of the geese can climb up the stairs so I'll have to block that off!

Yep you don't want them climbing stairs. lol that is great your garage has a slight incline that will make it easy to drain water. Be sure what ever you do if you use vinyl is it is very secure my geese will chew on anything. So I have to make sure everything is secure in their space. so I wouldn't just hang the vinyl on nails they would make mince meat out of that or mine would and I only have 4 geese. They have even chewed on their house. Sounds like a nice place for them and secure too. gorilla tape might be better than duct tape be sure water can't get behind the vinyl too because it has a paper backing that would probably break down once wet. I think if I was doing a concrete garage for geese I would use high gloss concrete paint it would be so easy then to just remove old bedding and wash down that is if your inclined to remove old bedding. I never remove old bedding I just clean daily the wet poopy parts and add new when needed. But then again I only have 4 geese to clean up after.

It'll be great! And the garage stays a little cooler than the house all year, about 65 degrees

I wish! We could probably put some in the garage doors, there are lights though. Windows would be really nice. I might paint it yellow so it's nice and bright when there is light! Or what are those natural light lamps?
