When can I put out the chicks?

My chicks are 5 almost 6 weeks old and are stinking up the house. How old should they be before I put them out in the coop? The temps at night have been in the high 30's to low 40's. How long do I still need to keep a light on them. In the house I have not been keeping a light on them because we keep the house about 70 degrees.

They should be moved into the coop now. But you need to gradually acclimate them to the colder temps outdoors, either by opening a window in the room in which they are now kept, or by providing a little heat as they adapt to life in the coop.

Are they the only flock? No adults to integrate with? If this is the case, it couldn't be any easier. Just move them to the coop, turn on a 100 watt bulb for the first few nights, clean house and celebrate!
