Hello. I have been needing to know what sex and breed my quail are for a while. I meant to get to it back in June, but one of my 2 quail passed away. I recently got more, and they are at the age where I am pretty sure the sex can be determined.
Comet. One of the first of my quail which I am pretty sure is a tuxedo male.
Dasher, which I am pretty sure is a Darth Vader female!
Dodo, who I am unsure about. I have never seen a button quail that looks like he/she.
Forest, who I think might be a golden pearl.
Tornado, who might be a silver pearl. (Unsure.)

I got Dodo, Tornado, Forest and Dasher from the same person. Comet I hatched out myself with another tuxedo.
Also, with breed, I mean like: Gold/Silver pearl, tuxedo, darth vader, ect. ((Most of you call them color mutations but, I just call them breeds. Lol.))
Thanks!

Comet and Dodo both have rust colored feathers. Comet has them on his vent and tail, making him a guaranteed male. Dodo has them on his wings which I have only seen in red breasted males, but those also have them all the way from the tail to the breast, which I can't see whether Dodo has. I'm still pretty sure he is a red breasted male though, but he seems to have some other mutations that cover up the red breasted.
Dasher, you might very well be right, provided there are no red vent feathers.
The first picture of Forest seems to show a couple of rust colored feathers near the vent, but the rest of the bird looks more female than male to me - turn it round and have a look at the feathers around the vent, if they really are rust colored, it's a male. Otherwise, female. For the color, I don't know.
Tornado, about the same as Forest. I can't see any rust colored feathers, but as far as I know, they tend to be quite pale in silvers, so they might not show up in pictures. So turn the bird around and look for pale rust feathers around the vent. My guess would be female, but I don't know.

Here's my two cents:
Comet - male
Dasher - hen and yes a vader/splash
Dodo - male
Forest - Male, check under tail looks like red to me
Tornado - hen, good mate for Forest

good luck

Okay, I know for sure Dasher is Female as I saw her laying a egg and I know Comet is male. With the chicks we still have to see. I am busy right now with new years, but they are 100% feathered and I will post pictures on here very soon. Thank you very much.
