yes they may be, but I'm guessing they didn't care too much or their chicken would not have escaped.

Yeah, I am inclined to agree with you .. chances of me losing one my gals is very slim because free range is always supervised but if I did lose one I would be scouring the neighbourhood; posting pictures everywhere and contacting every sanctuary and Vet around the place.

 

If you haven't already, it might be an idea to check if she was someone's much loved and missing pet but in the big picture, she could just have easily been run over and she is in a loving home so happy ending ;)
