I have a young call duck hatched this spring, I noticed her wheezing today and opening her mouth to breath sometimes. I gave her .10 cc of Baytril under the skin but is there anything else I can do to help her? She is still eating, drinking, and cleaning herself but I am very worried about her going downhill fast. I have Tylan 50 the water soluble kind on hand but it is 2 years expired . What should I be treating her with? I already gave her Baytril but can I put something in her water too? Or is there something better than Baytril? Should I put her somewhere heated?

How much does she weigh? As for heat, yes, place her in a room that's 80-85 degrees.

I weighed her she is about 18 ounces, she is breathing more with her mouth this morning she was eating and drinking until I moved her inside with another one but I'm afraid I stressed her out more they are just scared hiding in the corner of the carrier. I hope she gets adjusted and starts eating again.

I was also wondering if I can give dexamethasone or banamine to her to help her breath? She is so small I have no idea what the dosage would be. Can ducks handle these medications?

I would not give either of those unless directed to by a vet. When did you give her the Baytril, and is the Baytril the 10% stuff?

It is Baytril 100, I used the same dosage I was given to by my vet a few years ago for a different call duck. It helped that duck but she did not have pneumonia;she had something else. I would take her to a vet but it is Sunday and the only vet that looks at birds is closed and I am afraid she could die by tomorrow

Is she still drinking?
