Easter egger....right???

I purchased two dozen eggs off of Craiglist and the guy said they were pure Ameraucana's. I put them in the incubator and they are scheduled to hatch next Sunday. Right now 23 of the 24 have active embryos. Anyway, he posted pics of the rooster and hens. I compared the rooster to pics of the breed standards and didn't find him anywhere. The pic of the hens shows that some may be Ameraucanas. Before I sell any of these I thought I would get some feedback to verify the chicks I am hatching should be sold as Easter Eggers. Also, all eggs were indeed blue...any idea if the offspring

We could tell you for certain if you posted some photos, but in all likelihood if they were sold on Craigslist they are Easter Eggers and not true Ameraucanas. If they are true Ameraucanas they will meet the SOP standards for Ameraucanas including the slate blue legs, pea combs, beards, muffs, and recognized color varieties. Anything that falls short of those standards makes them Easter Eggers.

That is a roll of the dice if you don't know the genetics... There is a high probability they will lay blue eggs but they could also lay green (light olive) eggs or even a white or brown if the parents had recessive egg genes...
 
Those adults are Easter Eggers. Many, many people order their Ameraucana from hatcheries, not realizing they are actually purchasing Easter Eggers. They then breed those 'Ameraucana' and sell the eggs and chicks as the true Ameraucana.
Bottom line, Ameraucana only come in a few colors. If no color variety is specified, you are getting Easter Eggers.
As to what color they will lay, the blue egg shell gene is dominant, but there is no guarantee that the parents are pure for blue eggshell gene (two copies) or if they might be carrying the recessive white egg shell gene. They are called Easter Eggers because of their potential to lay just about any color. You never know what color eggs you will get, until they start laying.
 
Exactly what I thought, thanks for confirming. Just didn't want to misrepresent the chicks when I sell them.
