When I went in my ringneck pheasant cage yesterday I noticed she had layed an egg. I went in today and found 2 more. I thought their laying season was in the spring. Can they lay at anytime? I put them in my incubator to try to hatch them. Anyone else experience this?

Yep, had that happen last year and this year. Don't know why? There not under artificial light, proper nutrition. Last year it was 2 Black melanistics, they started at 6 months old in Nov. and continued until Oct. this year. This year it's Idaho ringnecks, started last month. I posted on here about it but didn't get much feedback to why or if anybody else was experiencing the same behavior. Maybe someone will chime in?

Could it be the weather? Its been 70 here in new jersey for a few days and my male has been making the cackling sound so I've been worrying that it might trigger their laying/mating instincts. I haven't seen any eggs in the pen but they have a thick layer of leaves on the ground so I wouldn't really know.

It has been pretty warm as well here in TN. I think the weather is the cause. She has laid a total of 3 eggs. I have noticed my golden pheasant male chasing my hen around. This weather is confusing them all.

I have Ringnecks and one of my hens has started laying already too.
I'm in florida and day temps have been in the mid to upper 80's with nights only in the low 70's.
