Ok, So I asked in another tread about my chicken having a seizure. Some replies were that maybe it was a dust bath. Which I though it could be because I didn't know what a dust bath was. Now, I believe that she really is having seizures. The question is what do you do with your chicken? Do you get rid of her or do you keep her? I love this chicken already. She is so sweet. She seems fine after an episode and walks around ok. Just worried that she wont produce an egg when she gets older. She is 11 weeks old. Any suggestions anyone.

Does she seem disoriented before or after the seizures?

I kept mine. She was okay most of the time. Eventually it did kill her, so try not to be surprised if and when that happens. Mine would run around as if being chased and death was imminent then keel over and have the seizure. Afterwards, she'd just lie there and eventually she'd get up and go about chicken business. I noticed she did not have a tendency to know when she was thirsty, so in the evening I would always lead her to some drink and she'd drink a whole lot. She did lay eggs, but I do think she stopped earlier than usual. This was probably due to stress of increasing seizures. She died on a hot day. I think she just didn't know she was thirsty and the heat and the lack of fluids caused her to have a heat stroke or seizure. I'm not really sure but that's what it appeared to be to me. I happened to just see it happen while looking out the window.

Its possible maybe your hen needs some good nutrition. Sometimes that is all it is and sometimes they can grow out of these things. I think mine didn't develop the seizures until after she reached maturity. Yet I wonder if she developed the problem after being thrown around by another hen as a day old chick.

All in all I am glad I kept her. She was a sweet hen- one of the sweetest.

Thanks a bunch. I am planning on keeping her. She is so sweet. She is only 11 weeks old but I would hate to find her dead. How long did your chicken live? Maybe she will out grow it. She is eating a good feed with all the vitamins and stuff she needs. I will go to tractor supply and see if they have somethung better.
