And the final answer off the vets is now they think it is an ammonia burn. Any advice would be grateful. I have some anti inflamtry for him on the way from the vets too, Hopefully it should stop him scatching, He is now in the house with me so i can take care of him, He still eats and drinks well.

Awe! :hugs to Jezz, you must really care about that lil birdie alot! I :fl that he gets all better for you! I dont know about the meds your using, and i cant tell you anymore than your Avian Specialist, i just wantd to give you a hug for all your trouble.

I have always used an human eye drop with boric acid for eye problems. I keep a couple of different formulations on hand and use them for my dogs and all my birds. Quail have all kinds of eye issues from pecking and cage conditions. I often find a good eye drop at dollar stores. Not the allergy type just a healing boric acid formula. And I always have eye flush kit of saline and sterile water on hand with different type of eye drops including allergy drops

Its conjuntitis, bird pink eye, very contaious,i put one that wasn't healed yet back in cage and half the other birds got it.Spent $100.00 on meds for 4 birds.Tinitan spelled wrong, from tractor and supply will cure it.Theres two other meds on internet that will cure it also, but I never found any.Theres also a natural med, utopia silver supplement,is what I'm using now its only about$8.00 a bottle. You have to disefect the water and food bowls and don't use them for 2 weeks.Eyes will scab over if it gets bad anough.Dont put back into cage intill eye lid is natural again.I put one back and infected more.I cured 3 and killed about 7.Today in my 10x10 cage I found out they have it again, about 14.00 so far.Pull up avian diseases of the eye, they have some good stuff about it They say finchs get it from bird baths and cant see. Will take 3 or 4 weeks to cure.I put them in separate cages till healed. These will probally get eaten as I have about 50 birds in the cage After I cured 3 the dog got them from bottom of cage.

It usually takes at least 48 hours of antibiotics before the problem clears up. I hope your little buddy feels better soon. At least he's eating and drinking though, so even though he's really uncomfortable right now, it could be a lot worse.

How did he get ammonia burn? Does he have respiratory problems too?
