Easter Eggers

Hey everyone are easter Eggers a good bird I live in Georgia and want a good egg layer and have heard that they are a cool bird any thing I should know about them or a breed that is better?

Easter Eggers are great, but they aren't a standard breed. That means there is a huge variety in terms of what is 'normal' for them. Most of the time, they are really solid producers, but you might get one or two that are poor layers. They don't have any recognized colors so they can be any color/pattern combination. Even blue or green eggs isn't a given. Some lay white, cream, pink, or brown, that's why the are called Easter Eggers.

If you want a flock where each and every bird is different and truly an individual, then you can't beat Easter Eggers. If you want something that you can be sure of, in one aspect or another, than they are not the birds for you.

I love my Easter eggers. I've had very good luck with birds from both McMurray and Ideal hatchery. They're colorful, mine have always been quite respectable layers, and good flock members. I love beards and muffs, and the colored eggs are quite the conversation starters. Kiddos love the colored eggs, also....
