Hi recently got 3 pekin girls. First 2 weeks all good but Last week one had a red eye and some blood around eye. Assumed it got poked with something. But now all the ducks seem to have reddish tinge in eye corner closest to bill. They are free range with access to a dam where wild birds do visit sometimes. They are still foraging and eating grain mash (seed house chick starter, not yet laying too young). Have all my duck friends stumped not sure what to do? Love them to bits and would hate to lose them. Any help appricated. Thanks

Could be some bacteria they maybe getting into at the dam is the water running or is it stand still? stagnant water can build up bacteria over time. You can try using a saline rinse and gently washing out their eyes. this may help. or go to feed store and get some Terramycin eye ointment or veterycin spray and start using it on them . you can also try adding some Apple Cider Vinegar to their drinking water and see if that helps, it can kill some bacteria and is a good tonic for them and us. But finding the source of the problem should be addressed too. If you try the ACV start with 1-2 Tablespoons to 1 gal of water for head dunking and drinking, [it will not sting the eyes either]

Thanks soo much, I suspected a bacteria, the dam is spring fed but we do also have bathtubs withstanding water have emptied all and bleached before re filling. They do get acv in their water and food. Will try to source meds mentioned. Thanks again
