Just placed order for spring...but my dream team is sold out.

So after not having chickens for 10 years or so, I am finally have a home where were have lots of land and I can once again have chickens! I was kind of surprised (ya imma newb) that Meyers and MyPet Chicken have already have sold out dates for some of their chickens already! Yikes... I had planned to order from Ideal, but they are still not taking orders for 2016, so, with the concern of not being able to get my most wanted breeds, I placed an order with My Pet Chicken for a few breed
I'll add in that I ordered through mypetchicken too- and the chicks came from Meyer (Polk, OH return address). I think "sold out" is their default if they don't have any eggs incubating for the breed at that time, which will change, so keep checking back (whether MPC or any other hatchery). The only issue I had were a couple pasty-butts but that passed quickly, otherwise healthy and vigorous.

Regardless of which hatchery sends them, USPS, even with Express Mail, probably won't get them there by 3pm the next day. The chicks may well seem to disappear for a night with no tracking updates other than "picked up at destination," leaving us worried sick about a lost, peeping box in a cold drafty warehouse. Chicks were fine, not lost, but the tracking details didn't show for us or USPS employees when we called after the delivery deadline came and went. I had the local distribution center on the lookout with 'call me any time day or night'. As with many other posts, ours arrived the following day, and the USPS really did call me at 4am so I could pick them up immediately. The tracking information didn't update until several hours later the day we picked them up, finally showing all those little steps in between. Good luck and I hope you get the birds you're looking for!
