Question on chicken math with chicks!

I had to look them up

'cause I wasn't familiar with them either.

OK, I'm clueless, what is Isa?

Quote: from the above link.

I wonder if it worth posting my own experiences with my own ISA browns, the above is pretty typical of the breed, and my friend has that entire bald flock he is going to put down because of their extremely poor health. Sometimes I think they are designed to put people off keeping chickens permanently. They are not a pretty sight but the website has some less than picturesque poop and manure threads that are rather image heavy.

I'm not sure all of this makes sense. And as I've bred a number of reptiles and fish in the past, I know that nobody establishes a breed/trait/variety just to upset anyone who purchases them. Most animal husbandry folk try to improve a strain of animals, not spend years and money making them poorer.

I also know that any strain/breed can have health issues and many of them are not related to genetics, but environment. I am looking into the Isa's now, or red sex links - though my heart is still sent on Australorps and Barred Rocks.

We had two isa Browns and an australorp years ago and they lived with zero problems for years. They were fantastic layers and amazing with the kids (insert image here of chicken tea parties lol). Sadly a fox got them but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
