It has begun

So I moved the two chicks from my early January hatch from the brooder into my dog kennel when these new chicks hatched and they've been so silly since, jumping around play fighting and trying to dig to China. The funniest thing though is that my scaredy cat chick found his backbone and tried to chase me off when I reach into the cage. I'm hoping it's not a sign its going to be an aggressive chicken and more along the lines of play. This is a video I took off them 'chasing' me off.

Never heard of that before.  If it ever did stand, it could only walk in circles.

Well, if I lived on the top of the hill.

That's rough but probably for the best.

Anything happen with those last 4?

The one that pipped, has finally hatched. I did candle the remaining three. There is a blue egg that looks good. I can still see the dark mass and veining. The others are brown, I can't see much. I think I will give them until the end of the day tomorrow and no change, I will clean out the incubator.

Great hatch! Those dark eggs can be tough.

Sooooo.... When are you putting more eggs in? :D

Oh, and did the kids love watching them??

Maybe I can talk the wife into a hatch for Easter?

Kids had a blast. Their first stop in the morning was to look in on the chicks.

For a temp brooder, I got some large, clear totes. They can watch them thru the sides.
