Lost my sweet husband of almost 45 years - Page 2

A friend of mine lost her husband in an auto accident.  She told me the trooper who came to deliver the news sat her down and gave her some good advice. He said that it is important to get up and go to bed at your regular time and to eat regular meals at your usual meal time and to eat nourishing food. He said to eat whether you are hungry or not. He said good food and enough rest will give you the strength to get through each day and so you can do what needs to be done. He told her when she got up in the morning to fix her hair, put on makeup (if she wore it) and to put on pretty clothes.  He said if you look better you will feel better.

She said the trooper's suggestions helped her get through the dark days after her husband's death.  They helped me when I lost my husband. I hope they help you.

The obscure we understand eventually.
The obvious takes a little longer.

All the trials and tribulations during life wash away leaving what remains – your love for each other. I lost mine ten years ago. I still love her and somehow I know she loves me still. Live your life as well as you can. Be patient with yourself.
