Jersey Giants/Australorps or One of Each?

I inherited several newly hatched chicks with no idea of breed or gender. Most of them have been figured out, but these two black chicks are a bit of a mystery. I’ve read a lot on Jersey Giants and Australorps and there is conflicting information on the importance of the yellow on the bottom of the feet. I also read today that Australorps have white skin and Jerseys have yellow?

Here are pictures of the two birds. They hatched on November 18th, so they are 5 weeks old. I would love to hear some thoughts on breed and gender.

Thanks!

Both of them together:

#2 is Jersey Giant--if he gets big enough is another matter.

#1--I can't really tell if the feet are pink or just paler yellow.  I'd guess Australorp though.

usually have between 20 and 50 chickens

Here's another picture of Bird #1's foot from the top.

My guess is #1 Australorp and pullet. #2 JG and male, if it gets big. JG should be a lot larger than the Australorps, in time.

With the pink bottoms of its feet, bird 1 is a Black Australorp. Bird 2 with the yellow bottoms of its feet is a Black Jersey Giant. Jersey Giants are slow to mature but it should eventually surpass the Australorp in size.

Agreed

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!
