Ameruacana breeding- black and blues.

Good evening and Merry Christmas!!

I have a question about breeding Ameruacanas. I have a few blue and blacks from different breeders. I am trying to decide between keeping a Blue rooster or a Black rooster( space only currently allows one rooster to be kept). I saw a sheet at one time that broke down breeding the different colors to each other and what the results of the breeding are.

If someone has that sheet I would love to have it. Thanks.

What do you recommend I keep? I am going to keep both the blue and black hens, but unsure of the color of rooster.

Thank you for the help.

Blue x blue= 50% blue 25% black 25% splash
Blue x black= 50% blue 50% black
Blue x splash= 50% blue 50% splash
Splash x black= 100% blue
Splash x splash= 100% splash
Black x black= 100% black

Keep a black rooster if you only want blue and black chicks. Keep a blue rooster if you want splash too. smile.png

Honestly, if you're seriously breeding, the color of the cock should be your last consideration. You should evaluate the birds in question against the SOP and decided which is the closest, and which will offset the faults in your hens the best. That's the bird you should keep, regardless of color. "Build the barn before you paint it".
