Light Royal Palm Hen

This year i got one extremely light royal palm hen.

 (light one)

(regular one)

Has anyone of you experience with such light hens? Should i try to breed some light royal palms out of her?

Hi Austria! Are both parents Royal Palms? I don't have any experience with RP's, but I do know feathers change with each molt and she may darken with age.

Most of us hang out over on the "Century of Turkey Talk" thread. Jump over there , someone will probably have more experience with RP than me. smile.png

Are those Mottle Blacks in your avitar? Beautiful birds!!

Yes parents are RP's. I breed them for about 3 years. All the other hens, at the same age, are as dark as their parents were. Only one hen is brighter.

Yes those are mottled blacks and they've started to lay eggs one week ago. :D

I have no idea why one is lighter. It's interesting.

We have several folks around the country whose hens have started to lay. Where are you located?

I'm from Austria.  Normally, it freezes at that time of the year and we have a lot of snow, but this year it's warm like spring. :)
