with that jumbo comb, I would say he is a cockerel.   Silkies are very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age.  If you got your birds young, maybe the owner/breeder really didn't know the sex.  Sometimes you cannot tell till they crow or lay eggs.

The silkie turned out to be  MALE as i found out when he started crowing lol
