hello! my name is Hunter, I am a new member here, though i have gotten TONS of tips and advice and learned a lot from the forum here, so thats to everyone who posts!

My first flock was 5 hens: Buff Orpington, Barred rock, Easter Egger, Rhode Island Red, and a welsummer. ...unfortunately, I lost all but my Buff Orpington to a stray dog attack!

I recently added a new barred rock hen and a RIR rooster to keep my one surviving girl company (and beefed up security, no more free ranging unsupervised!). AND I just preordered 2 Blue laced red wyandotte chicks and 2 cream legbar chicks... I can't wait! April can't come soon enough!

Sorry to hear about your losses, that must have been devastating. Did you have any issues integrating the new rooster and hen with your remaining girl? There's an excellent article in the Learning Center on integration...that might come in very handy with the chicks you'll be getting next year.
