Hi everyone I hope someone can give me some quick advice. I just culled a 2 1/2 year old turkey hen today -when I opened her up I found her belly full of these. Last summer she did appear to have the odd 1/2 day when she would sit and be listless and hunched. She never laid an egg but went broody and started to raise 2 poults I gave her but only for 2 weeks.
My question; is it safe to eat her muscle meat? It is pink and healthy looking and was eating and drinking and acting completely normally up until her demise.

Sorry for the late response. But I have no answer for you. Maybe others more experienced than I can chime in. I personally would not, but I have no scientific basis for that. all I can say is research it here on this site and see what you come up with.

thanks for reply. I took some more pictures this morning - it looks more and more to me like she was initially egg bound and then things started backing up. Poor girl, Im glad I culled her before the egg laying season starts again. It doesn't make any difference in the end, as it looks like the eggs inevitably putrified inside her but I am wondering if it would be classified as salpingitis - which came first , the turkey or the egg
