Hello I have been noticing that my light brahma had some injuries due to flock pecking so applied peck off to deter the other birds from continuing to bother her, we were doing well then I came out today to find a horrible disaster. I have a flock of 9 and I check them everyday therefore this injury had to have happened in the last 24 hours. The birds are very young 6 months and under this the bird with the issue is 6 months and has just started laying. When I found her like this I gave her a bath that included Epsom salts and apple cider vinegar. When I was blow drying her she started to wheeze and throw up. Can someone please tell me if this is flock bullying or a prolapsed vent and what I can do for my poor light brahma. I have already separated her from the flock

Anything would help
Thanks from a worried bird momma

Welcome to BYC. It looks like she has been severely vent pecked. She could have had a prolapse or not, of the internal part of the cloaca or vent. The red will attract pecking, but she may have just been pecked by more aggressive flockmates. Once they see any red, they will all join in. I would being her inside and do daily warm epsom salt or saline baths just to her vent area. Then apply some Vetericyn spray or plain Neosporin ointment. Make sure no flies get near her, or she may get fly strike. Check to make sure there are no maggots in there now. Let us know how she is doing in a day or so.
