I've hatched two silver based chicks from this cross, a light brahma hen and speckled Sussex rooster, and sold the two silver promptly, but is this amount of white 'normal', I've only seen traditional crosses and they have very little white, this girl has some white on her back and wing, but is definitely red based, so should be female correct?

You've got speckling from the Speckled Sussex. And yes, I think that is a girl with a designer sex linking.

If you look at the different RSL's, depending upon the crossing, a number of them DO get substantial white as they begin to go through the juvenile molts, but always a healthy dose of red fox color. Some of my RSL had very little white; others, a lot of white lacing, I think depending upon if the hen used was silver based or silver with lacing based.

I agree. I also noticed the feathered-legs due to the dominant gene contributed by the Brahma.
