Wanting to start mini plant hobby, any suggestions?

Out here at  Walmart etc.  they have cactus with paper flowers glued on them.  Several times I have shown that to would be buyers. I used to have a large cactus collection and it makes me mad  to see stores trick people into buying them.  No. 1 the flowers are fake  and no.2 cactus flowers don't look anything like that.  Plus many species of cactus have to be quite old before they bloom.

I fell for it. One day I was watering them and actually looked at them, straw flowers, glued on, yeah I felt stupid and had, I should know better, but I only recently got into keeping cactus. Thankfully they are nice cactus.
