Is my coop/run suitable??

Glad you have a couple windows in there. Mine like to sit and look out of them in the summer. I think it is an actual argument on who gets to sit by the big windows then.

I recently built a 4x8 coop for my soon to be chickens, it also has a 2x7 external laying box (4 dividers inside it). The coop is 7feet tall on the inside and has about 30 linear feet of roosting posts. The coop is up off the ground 2 feet and encompassed by a 24' x 24' run. If my math is correct that's about 46sq ft inside( counting the laying boxes) and 576' outside.

I was hoping to raise 15 chickens. Is this suitable?

Rule of thumb is to have about 4.5 square feet of housing and 10 square feet of run space for each bird. This will keep your birds happy..less stressed and healthy.

Each bird needs about 3 sq feet of floor space, based on my math you have enough space for 10 full size birds. 4' x 8' = 32' 3/32 =10.666

With 10 birds in that coop it will be very hot during the summers at night. I am in Pensacola FL, so I know how are summer are here.

Don't forget that in that space you have feeders and waters that take up space too.

Nice chicken coop!

not my vine, and it doesn't matter how long it takes, if you do not plant it right now it will never grow. Get some today ! Last time I went to my friends house and saw the grapevine there I ask if I can take some cuttings, I got about 3-4 meters and then cut them up and planted them at home. If you do not start, you'll never have. It doesn't matter how long it takes, however I think grape is very very fast because they prune it back every year plus I have seen vineyards that literally spring up overnight. If they can spring up overnight then how long can it possibly take ?? who cares, plant now.

Looks great! Unfortunately it would take forever for a grapevine to grow that big in my soil. Just ask my neighbor about the scraggly vines he's been babying for years with no luck. I'll have to stick to my shade cloth.

do not follow your neighbors advice. fine someone with a grapevine that looks like you want and then ask that person how to do it. Don't ask fat people how to diet.

15 chickens x 4 square feet each = a coop with 60 square feet of free floor space. You have 32 square feet.

15 chickens x 10 square feet each = a run with 150 square feet of free floor space. You have 576 square feet.

15 chickens x 2 linear feet each = 30 linear feet of roosting space. Exactly what you have.

Throw a tarp over part of the top of the run to give them additional "coop" space during inclement weather, I think 15 chickens is doable.

I have netting over the entire run area but it would be very easy for me to put in two more posts and install a tarp under the netting. I could do a 10x10 or 10x15 tarp easily. I guess it would double for shade in the summer as well. I had a thought to build a few "grazing style" tractors so that I could let them munch on new areas outside the run during the day. Security is my number 1 priority since the coop is in a area close to the woods. I know for a fact I have fox and coon in the area during the night. I've been closely watching and monitoring the tracks. Thanks for the input!
