Thank You!

Back in June (way, way back ago, as my youngest son would say), we started researching raising chickens and this site was a tremendous help for figuring out what we would need. Then we ordered 16 brown egg layers from Meyer Hatchery and you all helped us figure out what we had and what failure to thrive was.
And then my darling husband had a bout of Chicken Math and decided we needed more chickens because of the "what ifs" and potential predators, so we ordered 15 more from Meyer's Leann's adopt me bargain. With that order we got a chick with a mystery illness and through the information on this site we discovered that it was omphalitis. Unfortunately, that chick didn't survive, but we received free shipping and 2 free chicks and paid for 2 more. At this point the count was 33.
All our orders were straight run. We had quite a few roosters to process and you all once again had a wealth of information that we are extremely grateful for.
Now we have a very healthy flock of 20 pullets and 2 cockerels. They just started laying eggs on Dec 21, we're getting 4-6 a day.

Without this knowledge base, I'm not sure how successful we'd be, but we are very thankful to you all!

Glad you could join the flock! Oh wow it sure does seem that chicken math got the better of you there! I'm afraid it happens to us all in the long run. It's lovely to hear BYC was so helpful for you when you started your chicken adventures. It really is a great place for lots of knowledge and learning.
