I find this interesting.

I was wondering what I would get putting my EE with a Partridge chanticleer?

I am getting too blue of eggs and want to get some olive and greens.

. I used a EE rooster that had really blue egg gene a couple years ago and all of a sudden I have lost all my greens and olive eggs. (BUT I FR a lot and have some losses from Eagles that decimated me a year ago.)




Also all except one of my CLB's lay the most beautiful blue eggs, I have never seen an UK CLB egg, but I am really happy with my CLB eggs.
The pictures were taken with my IPhone and I can never get the blues to look like they do in person, but they are not bad.

US Cream Legbar eggs look fine on their own, but if you put them side by side with a good blue Araucana or Ameraucana (or even a good blue laying Easter Egger) egg you can see how diluted the blue is and the tint of green the CL eggs carry... I'm sure there is some UK stock that has better colored eggs, and there are US breeders out there working on better colored eggs, but from my hands on experience thus far and others similar experiences, the US CL 'blue' egg color isn't all it can be and need some work...

I have a mutt Easter Egger that lays eggs that are far more bluer then the my CL stock and I have both Rees and pre-Rees CL lines as well as the proclaimed 'Canadian Line'... That blue color seen in my mutt is the color I would like to see my CL line eventually lay if I ever get to that point...

I think you could get nice olive eggers or different shades of green. I'm always amazed how many different shades of green one can get crossing blue and brown eggers, or simply green eggers with each other. Is the EE the hen? so you know what color she lays?

I had only one little Legbar hen, I was always happy with her blue egg also.
 
I have two EE to use as hens. I have no idea what color one lays because tonight is the first night they have been separated from the flock. The one is a EE (Her Father was Blue gene EE her mother was a CLB.) The other one I do not know but I should tomorrow. I know the 1/2 CLB's egg shape, size and color.



My main complaint with CLB is not color of egg, it is flightiness and lack of production.
