Muscovies are taking over my yard!!

Miss Lydia, the ducks are doing well! A very nice couple came from Virginia and got 10 of them so that was a big help, and they brought duck feed and supplies which was wonderful of them. I counted them tonight after they settled on the porch and there are 33 now I believe.

They have gotten pretty brazen with me, although they run from strangers. The one even pulls on the bottom of my coat when he thinks I have scratch. I still have the little hen in the bath tub, she had a full 5 days of Tylan but is still a little congested and puffy around the eyes. Hopefully a few more days and she will be ready to return to her friends.

Ive been thinking about shelter, since I have a small fenced area for them now. Has anyone heard of using a portable shed? Like this:

Im looking for extremely affordable and big enough for all of them. My husbands hours at work were cut back on and Im doing occupational therapy for my hand so things are really tight. This seems like it might be a decent option
What do you think?
I don't see how you can predator proof it?

I hope the lil one in the tub makes it through you sure have given them much needed TLC..

Great news you were able to place 10. Hopefully more will come and adopt.

Exciting news of the day: One of the hens laid an egg this morning!!!! I'm sure this usually isn't exciting news given that this is a chicken forum, but given the condition these chickens were in, I'm so excited.

I know that shelter isn't ideal but it would be in a fenced area within my fenced back yard, and would provide wind/water protection. It would also be large enough for all of them. Right now we have single digit temp and negative wind chills, and a snow storm predicted for Friday

A special needs rescue I have fostered for in the past has generously donated $400 to help provide shelter, medications, feed, etc to them so this is a huge help! I plan on taking the truck to the feed store tonight and stocking up!

That is awesome about the money help.. I think if that is all you can do and are willing to get them shelter then by all means go for it. Hopefully in the future you can make things more secure but to get them out of this weather we're all having it very important right now.

Congrats on the egg it is always exciting to hear especially when the chicken has come so far from where she was..

Bless your heart for caring..

Great news about your first egg from the chickens. Then the group giving you money that is awesome. To feed that many ducks you certainly need help. I hope you can get a shelter for them to get in out of the bad weather. Thank you again for helping the ducks your a great person.
