On day 20 almost 21 of my first hatch

They are English Jubilee Orpingtons.

I purchased a starter flock last fall, the girls started laying in December. My avatar is a picture of Sweetie, my favorite. I've had chickens for several years now, ever since the kids were old enough to participate in the local 4-H club. But I've had some really nasty roosters and I was looking for a breed that was known for docile behavior. I also have a thing for big, fluffy butts on my chickens, so these seemed to be the perfect chicken for me. So far my roo has not shown any aggressive behavior- I'm really happy about that. Hoping these little fellows are all super sweet. I can't stand a mean chicken, I don't care how pretty it is.

I had two really mean Barred rocks once. Ick! They were used for chicken tacos... I cant stand mean roos! I would never use an agressive roo for breeding. I have a Cochin roo and an Australorp Welsummer cross and they r not agressive at all. The Barred Rocks were the only mean ones I have had. I dont socialize with roos. They then are scared of people and avoid me which is good I think.
