One of our Brahmas has a crooked neck, it feels dislocated. She seems to be getting along fine, eating and drinking etc. Can't day for sure if she's laying yet as we have 23 hens. I'll attach a couple pics of her. Should we do anything or just leave her to do what chickens do? :)

Has she always been this way, or was she injured?

Last year we ended up with an oops bantam Polish pullet. As a chick she looked normal. However as she aged it was apparent she had a very bad case of scoliosis of the neck. She did well though. No special treatment was necessary. She would still be with us if it weren't for a fox.

Is her neck twisted as in wry neck (crook neck, torticolis,) or is it a skeletal problem such as keesmom was suggesting? With wry neck it can be a symptom of head injury, vitamin deficiency, or of certain diseases such as Mareks, avian leukosis, or infections that affect the brain. If you think it is wry neck, then treating with vitamins (mainly vitamin E and the mineral selenium) can sometimes help. If it is a spinal deformity, she may be able to live normally, but I would not hatch her eggs.

Seems to be more skeletal. She has no other symptoms. Since we are not planning to hatch eggs, we'll just see how she does. It just feels like her neck is out of joint. She gets around fine and eats and drinks just as normally as the other 22 do.

There are a few pictures and threads about roach back chickens or scoliosis if you do a search at the top of this page, and also Google those terms and look at "images" at the top of that page. I would post some, but can't post links on my tablet.

Thanks! It helps to have a name if something to search for. I want sure what to call her problem.
