Is it just me?

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how the streaming video advertisements in the java script totally bogs down this website? Right now, I'm having no lagging issues because there is no ad streaming in the sidebar. But when posting to other thread on this site, it's a real pain with the time-slicing that's going on.

This is the first Forum I've been on where streaming ads were used. Banner ads serve the same purpose and don't interfere with data sharing while posting. Quite frankly, the streaming ads are a royal pain.

My 2-cents, anyway.,..

You can turn off all advertisement if you take out a Golden Feather Membership or a Platinum Membership.

I'm using Chrome Version 47.0.2526.111 m
Like I said, the problem only exists when video ads are running in the sidebar. When I try to pause the video, it just starts again.

I'm using Chrome as well and it seems to be working just fine, of course my computer is pretty new and has 16GB of RAM so that helps. If you are having issues with other websites too I would look at your computer and RAM, if it's only BYC then maybe they just have too many ads.

I'm running a 2.67GHz machine with 6Gb RAM and 1Gb video RAM. My Internet connection is slow (only 6 Mbps), but BYC is the only site where data entry is lagging so badly. I'm opting for the reason above in bold print, and the reason for my OP.

Yeah, your computer seems just fine.
I guess you either pay for a more advanced membership or just deal with it. Chrome might have a way to disable them but I'm not sure about that.

Thanks for the details, we're looking into it.

While we do know that ads do take a bit of the processing / bandwidth to load, we try to keep that to a minimum. We haven't been seeing any ads coming through that are causing mass problems for users, but we'll keep an eye on it.

Anybody else seeing this same problem? If so, please post exactly what you see (name of the ad, location on the page, etc.) and a screenshot if possible.

Thanks for the response. Usually when a person starts typing faster than the letters appear on the screen, it's chalked up to their slow internet connection, or other processes going on in their computer. I know some servers get really busy at certain times of the day. But in this case, I saw the video running, and when I was able to pause it, my data entry was uninterrupted. New page, new video ad....bogged down again.
I'm sure it's a combination of several things, though, when you get right down to it. Not having any problem now, but then there are no ads running on the page,

No, the way to deal with it taking 30 seconds to type in a 10 second post is to compose off-line, then cut-n-past.
