straw or hay bale gardening - Page 6

everything is sprouting.  hopefully all will keep growing.

it's actually been pretty nice to not be bent over and still weed free where my plants are, so I am hoping this works great.

not related to haybale gardening, but it looks like this year we will finally get some grapes, provided we can keep the critters away.

You will get some mold, but it won't hamper the growth of the plants.  In fact, it will help the hay break down into healthy medium for the plants to grow in.  You'll also get some interesting toad stools.

That's good to hear BertS. It's too cold for even the most hardy grapes here, unless the gardener wants to put in some serious commitment, I've tried, but lacked the commitment.

One of these days SWMBO and I will have some time to get our raised bed bale gardens built.

The fungi (mold) will not harm healthy plants. There are countless species of fungi and bacteria in healthy soil. They work in symbiosis to help grow our plants.
