I have a 2year old female muscovey duck.
Her name is Popcorn and she's been having dirrhrea for going on 3months now.
She eats and performs normally, (except she only laid one set of eggs and stopped)
I took her to the vet and paid $77 for visit and medicine that was suppose to firm her stools but it mostly gave her gas.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Please help

Welcome to BYC! I know that this question usually is a problem with young birds but does she have access to pebbles? Sometimes pebbles help with digestion and some times fixes diarrhea in chicks and ducklings. As for an adult she may have gotten worms or external parasites. For external parasites check at the base of her feathers around the vent, under the wing, and sometimes they crawl around the face. If you see golden color looking bugs that's lice, if they look like small black or red dots moving that's mites. Fleas and ticks I'm sure you know what they look like. As for internal parasites might as well try and give her something just as a precaution. I don't know worm dosages for ducks unfortunately. Casportpony though can help you with dosages for your duck. She can be found just about anywhere on BYC. If she has access to water where she can preen herself or take a bath it might not be external. Good luck with Popcorn! Sending healing vibes your way.

I don't know anything about ducks but, would think after 3 mos. she must be pretty debilitated. I agree with contacting Casportpony AND also Miss Lydia. Hope someone will be able to diagnose her problem and treatment.

Hello!

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. Good luck with your girl, Popcorn. I'm not familiar with ducks, so I'm going to defer to the others, to guide you.
