Rocking chickens to sleep before killing them

I haven't seen any mention of this when killing chickens, hope it might be helpful. Before I kill a chicken, I tuck its head under its wing and rock the bird from side to side for 15-20 seconds. This completely relaxes the chicken, and keeps it still when you cut its throat or chop off its head. Try it and let me know how it works for you. Quig
 
My dad use to do this with the pheasants he would raise to train the dogs. He would tuck and rock, then place the bird in the field. Never thought about it for chicken processing!
