definitively nothing pretty to look at thats for sure! but it will get the job done i do believe! all made with re used things on the homestead! started it with 120 year old sliding barn doors that were blown over then hidden away about 10 years ago! old fence planks! old doors!

I really like this how big is the structure. I recently got six emu eggs and was curious about a design for an "emu coop"

you know i have NOT measured it! lol ...the base of it is old barn doors that were blown over..........but....i think it might be like....10 x 10 x 10....then i think its about 7 feet high.....im trying to compare it to my 10 foot dog kennel pannels and its about the same!! im pretty sure its about the same! i hope your eggs hatch for you i have never had luck hatching emu eggs! i cheat and buy chicks! lol im going to be getting 6 more chicks next month!

nativewolf! Wow! I'm sure you posted on my threads years ago.

But I popped in to ask if you've carefully checked the structure for nails etc, either in the walls or loose on the ground.

yeah , very good idea.
Also if it were me, I'd ditch the glass ...just a set up for disaster not to mention moldy old wood is NOT good to have for a bird shelter.

=) thank you for your worry! dont worry though nothing and i mean....NOTHING gentered that pen with out my knowing about it! i de nailed ever board that had them like 200 feet away at our wood pile. and i entered with only so many nail at a time and ALL were counted afterwards! i made sure there is NOTING like that they can choke on. and in a couple months i will go threw the pen with a metal magnet and clean up all the loose branches ect. and birdeo this wood is NOT molded...mossed over yes......algea yes..but not MOLD! some of us dont have the luxury to be able to go and buy fresh boards and tin when ever we need them we have to reuse things.

I hope they hatch too. Thanks for letting me know, its still very helpful. I wanted to buy chicks but wasn't sure where to get them. Where did you get yours?

i just posted an add online on our local sale site......and boom a breeder messaged me! lol she was 2 hours away from me! then i was searching more and i found a breeded about 40 mins from me! my advice is look around and ask around you would be shocked to find out who has emus!

Wa ha ha -- the bet now is whether the emus pay any attention at all to their shelter. We look forward to reports. (But in the wild they do roost under cover. Only once ever have I seen a roost in the open.

Went down to the 'nursery' last month. (Was raining, so my eyes were okay.) The chicks' poops -- easily recognisable -- were, in one place, only about 15-20 feet apart. You guys would enjoy data-gathering there: spring sunshine; you nestled in a pile of mulch, waiting to see Dad and chicks cruise on through.)
