Gross Egg! Anyone Know What Happened?

This came from one of my mom's hens, anyone have any idea what's wrong?

Also she said it had a little funky smell to it and there were two of them so far. They've been in the house for a month maybe.
 
How long were the eggs outside before a month in the house? Have they been refrigerated? It looks rotten to me.

I gather the eggs every day -and have never had a problem before with them freezing. I don't wash them so I thot they would be okay not refrigerated for some time. But if it got frozen I can see where that would make it rot...?? :(

No she doesn't think she could've missed it but maybe? And no she doesn't refrigerate her eggs, neither do I...are we supposed to?

Okay thank you! What a weird deal though! And frustrating, can't afford to lose eggs this time of year :/
