We have 3 Speckled Sussex babies that were born at Christmas. Two of them were born with the same black feet that our Silkie Mix babies have. However, the third (who struggled to be born at all when he/she couldn't get through the shell of the egg without help), has pink/orange feet and a large cone. I know my other Sussex hens all have large cones, but I simply cannot tell if these last 3 are male or female. Thoughts?

The one with the large comb is a cockerel. The other 2 are still too young to be 100% sure on.

Where did you get the eggs? Sussex are supposed to have white legs.

My baby with the pinkish feet turned out to be the most beautiful and sweet tempered Roo we have seen yet. And while he was the smallest of all of the birds at birth, he is the largest now and clearly the flock leader. The other two were hens and all three are still inseparable. They go everywhere together and even roost side by side at night.
