I was sitting in the coop this morning and I noticed one of my hens has feathers missing on the back of her neck and so I checked her to see if maybe new feathers coming in yet and what i seen was like a gash like or as if like her skin was ripped and pulled her skin back a little bit but what could I put on it to clean it out so it can heal. I can get a pic if needed I don't know when it happened how it happened I don't see any feathers or blood any where but they go up in the woods behind our house so I don't know if maybe she got her self cought on a stick or something who knows here it just feels like something is always happening or turning out badly

Cleaning with a mild saline solution and then putting iodine solution in and around then affected area should help. Keep an eye on her and get some broad spectrum antibiotics in case it starts to look manky.

Chickens are quite resilient so don't despair. Isolating her will prevent other flock members making matters worse - any sight of blood and they can be cruelly relentless in pecking the victim.
