We ended up with an 80% hatch rate with these poults. They are Blue Slate and Lavender Slate with Ridley Bronze gene. They took over 30 hours to completer their hatch. I gave them some Poly-vi-sol drops as son as they finished and had rested in the hopes of preventing the club-feet/flipping over that happened with the last two. We have 30 more turkey eggs to hatch, in small batches over the next four weeks so I will keep posting as they come. Our ducklings should also start hatching this week. Thanks for checking in!

We have hatched 3/4 of our turkey eggs with a hatch/survival rate of 75%. A few died just before hatching inside the egg and a few died within 48 hours of hatching. The tape shoes worked well to correct the clubbed feet, for some we left the shoes on 24 hours and for others 36. Poly-vi-sol drops seemed to clear up the flipper syndrome within 24 hours. Also these issues only affected the poults who were more than a day late hatching or who took more than 30 hours from external pip to unzipped.

The club feet and flipping syndrome also only affect our first two hatches. The rest of our poults have come out strong and running.

We have a Blue Slate Hen and a Ridley Bronze Tom. They produced 6colour variations, Ridley Bronze, Blue Slate, Cream Slate, Lavender Slate, Black Slate and the Blue-Red-Bronze variation that I am breeding for. Out of 20 eggs only one was the variation I am looking for. I think it is going to take about two years to establish a breeding stock of Blue-Red-Bronze. It will be worth the effort.
Here are some photos of the colour variations and a silly video of one poult fighting sleep.

Happy Hatching!
