The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I finally actually hit the date right for a hatch-a-long!

On Sunday I set 28 eggs, a mix of White Ameraucana, frizzle bantam Cochin, Super Blues, NN EEs, and OEs backcrossed to Ameraucana. I'm getting real Easter Eggers for easter. :)

Have water in tray on bottom.. Eggs are in a rotator. have a fan running. how much water should be in there..
I keep mine in the mid 30's to mid 40's.

Do you have all of the wells filled? Not needed. Only one should do the trick. :)

Ok, I have suctioned out water, will watch humidity closer and add more in one well if needed... Thanks for your help. This is my first try and I did not know not to fill all wells. Hope I did not hurt all the eggs.

Hey all just wanted to say how very much fun I'm having! I'm actually already impatient and talking to the eggs I can't wait for fuzzy butts! Am waiting on a couple of my girls I now have 1-2 more birds considering going broody. One is a buff Orpington (who stole the second silkie's initial bait eggs) and then the white silkie. Going to try to separate Lovey from the rest of the flock as she got kicked out of her nest this morning. Otherwise she's been doing great. I am however finally understand why going broody is catching lol. We may have to make more nest boxes at this point 3/5 have birds thinking about going broody or already broody in them. Lol

Your impatient?! Try being on day 1-2 and know that you have 20 more days of biting your nails, checking every few hours on temp/humidity and hand turning eggs every few hours other than when your asleep. (Oops... I was up at 3am checking

@Madonna m
The eggs should be fine as long as they lose enough moisture throughout the total incubation time. So if in a couple days it dips a bit below perfect don't panic. I incubated three times without a calibrated hygrometer and now know my built in hygrometer is about 20% off as in its 20% higher than that one reads. So I would say you'll be fine there's lots of time left to lose moisture(aka weight)

I think we all want to see little chicks (of course, I am so nuts this month that I have 4 different hatch dates this month that I know of and a plethora of bantam eggs whose hatch dates are a magical surprise)
