Hey! We are now proud parents for the first time with chickens! I just came home from picking up a coop that we found on CL, which then turned into us taking home these two babies as well, I think the guy said they were born on or around Xmas, so that should be putting them around 4 weeks old? We are reallllllly hoping these are pullets...what do you think?! Also the breeds are a barred rock and I think he said a red sex link for the other

It seems a little early for them for be getting their combs which makes me think that they might be male. But I am in no way an expert so let's hope that other people comment:)

The BR looks like a pullet so far... No male barring, and the comb looks like its still yellow...

But the other one might be a cockerel, as the comb being red already at 4 weeks is a sign of male... Keep an eye on the red one, and if it sprouts wattles in the next few weeks, its a cockerel.

Oh and I don't know if the red one is actually a RSL.. If it IS, then its female. A male red sex link would be yellow ;)
