Hey guys, I have just got a new chicken. I live in the city and one of my friends got me a baby chick. I don't know anything about raising chicks so a few tips would be amazing! I will be asking so so many questions because I get freaked out pretty easily. Another question I had was how can I raise a chick in an apartment. I don't live in a house. so if there are an tips, again i would love it.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. I've never raised house chickens, but some of our members here at BYC have. Drumstick diva who frequents this section knows a lot more about house chickens than I do. Perhaps she will be able to answer questions regarding house chickens. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. Good luck with your girl!

Nice to meet you Kayla, Welcome to Backyard chickens. I'm sure your friend meant well but, did you even want a chick? If so do you know if it will be a large breed chicken or small? There is a very good thread here called "People with house chickens." that would explain how others keep them in apartments, in residential areas etc. Chickens are flock animals and prefer the company of others. But, you can fill that need by having it as a house pet. It should imprint on you. I am just wondering if this if this is something you want to do or feel obligated?

Good luck with your little chick. The Learning Center and the "people with house chickens" thread will be your best places for information.

Hope this works out for you and the little one!
