Rooster Frostbite

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter

My Welsummer Rooster has frostbite on his comb and his waddle is extremely swollen.  I'm not sure what to do to help him.  Temps are in the teens at night.  I have a heat lamp in the coop.  He looks miserable.  Any advice to help him would be appreciated.

Somehow increase your ventilation in your coop.  This is the problem more than cold weather.  Lower your roosts if possible.  Be VERY careful using a heat lamp in the coop...I would do away with it!

As far as for treating your Rooster, here is an excellent brief article to read;
