I had to get rabies vaccinated for vet school and it really wasn't so bad, but most insurance companies will not cover the cost of prophylactic rabies shots. Mine cost about $1100. Its a series of two or three shots (can't remember exactly) and I think you get them a few weeks apart. You get those and then two years later you get a rabies titre. My rabies titre was still good so I don't need the vaccine this year.
