My duck's right wing - is this normal?

Our swedish blue is about 5 weeks old, a few weeks ago we noticed his wings looked like the one in the photo below. Now for the last week or so, his left wing is tucked in and looks normal again, but his right one is still stuck out like this. He opens both wings and flaps them with no issues, is it just growing feathers in more slowly than the other side or is something wrong? He doesn't seem bothered at all, but I'm new at this and a bit of a worry wart! :) Thanks in advance!

That would be angel wing. Wrap his wings in the proper position with some masking tape and lower his protein intake. Week later it'll be in standard.

Thank you! He only eats the poultry feed that looks like grain, and water. No other sources of protein yet.

@BlakeRyan - some ducklings seem to be more likely to get angel wing than others. I think, from reading a bunch about it, there could be more than one reason. Too much protein has been implicated, but so has heredity.

There is a thread about wrapping for angel wing. Let me see if I can find it.

You want to be careful not to cut off blood circulation - just a word to the wise.

I'll be back, Lord willing.

Here it is

After mine start to feather out I switch them back to a 15% feed. Usually a couple drakes still manage to get it but a quick wrap has worked every time.

We taped him tonight. He handled it pretty well, but was definitely not too happy after wards :( he's resting peacefully now...hopefully this fixes it within a day or two though.

Often times it can take up to a week. I'd suggest you give it at least three days before untapingm just make sure he doesn't grow so fast it gets too tight.

The end of the wing is still stuck out a little even with the tape around. I thought for sure he was going to get it off the way he was pecking at it last night but it's still on this morning. We won't take it off to check for another day or two, no worries. I just feel bad for him :(

I think vet wrap would be good to use and cover the entire wing to the tips where they are still sticking out always making sure not to wrap too tight and cut off circulation. Can he get up and walk you may have to show him that he can. When I first put any thing on my lil dachshund a sweater or coat he just doesn't think he can walk. And your lil guy will probably feel off balance.
