Need info please......I live in a community where we have had white chinese geese roam the island freely for at least 30 years. This year they had dwindled to only one so I bought a pair six months ago because the lone male was so sad. Since then she has produced two goslings from two separate clatches. This second one is in my garage now with its Mom and will be released back to the flock on three next weekend when its fully feathered, to stand the water temps............We are in Texas and winter is fairly mild. My question is.........occasionally it will freeze for one, maybe two days. Also, every couple of years we get hurricanes that pass through our island. One about 7 years ago was catastrophic and we got 40 houses that were flooded to the ceiling...So, is there any thing I can do to give them a helping hand in freezing weather and in bad hurricane? They live next to the waters edge on City property, so I am very limited in available resources. My house is two blocks from the water, but I dont know if I am capable of rounding up five of them to take to my garage. Any ideas? Thanks, Roselyn Pierce-Shirley (and by the way, I just published a children's book about this experience, called 'Goose-Z Gets A Second Chance', thats available on Amazon. Thanks for your input.
